Optional magnetic macro lens

The T7 + Macro Lens variant adds a lightweight magnetic macro lens for close inspection of small electronic components. The supplier specifies an all-germanium optical element with approximately 93% transmittance and a minimum observable component size of approximately 2 × 1 mm. The macro lens is optional and is included only with the corresponding variant.

Calibration behavior

The camera periodically performs an internal non-uniformity correction using a mechanical calibration shutter. During calibration, you may hear a click and the image may pause for approximately 1–3 seconds. The supplier states that this can occur at roughly 10-second intervals during operation. This is normal thermal-detector behavior and does not indicate a fault.

Measurement and safety notes

• For general temperature measurement, the supplier recommends working at approximately 1 meter when practical. Readings can change with distance, focus, target size, emissivity and reflections.
• Low thermal contrast can make edges appear blurred. A larger temperature difference between the object and background generally produces a clearer image.
• Do not use the camera in extreme heat, strong magnetic fields or other harsh environments outside the stated operating conditions.
• This product is an inspection instrument and is not intended for medical diagnosis, fever screening or safety-critical decisions.

Frequently asked questions

Does the TOOLTOP T7 work with iPhone or iOS?

No. This version is designed for compatible Android USB-C phones and does not support iPhone or iOS.

What should I check if the thermal camera does not connect?

Remove any thick phone case, fully insert the USB-C connector and confirm that OTG is enabled in the phone settings. Some older Android phones require additional app support. If the issue continues, contact support with your phone model and Android version before installing software from an unverified source.

Why does the image click or freeze briefly?

The detector is performing an automatic calibration cycle. A click and a brief 1–3 second pause are normal during this process.

What is the optional macro lens for?

The magnetic macro lens is intended for closer inspection of small electronics and components. It is included only with the “T7 + Macro Lens” variant.

Why can a thermal image look blurred?

Blur can result from incorrect focus, unsuitable distance, a target that is too small, or insufficient temperature contrast between the object and its background. Adjust the viewing distance and use the macro lens for appropriate close-up applications.

Can the T7 replace a calibrated contact thermometer?

No. Thermal cameras are valuable for finding patterns and temperature differences, but readings are affected by emissivity, reflections, distance and environmental conditions. Confirm critical measurements with an appropriate calibrated instrument.
